Romans 8

Why do people believe in God and in Jesus Christ when they cannot see Him with their natural eyes? Most do not hear Him speak out loud. Some do not even feel His presence although others may have from time to time. Yet, they believe in His existence just as they believe in the existence of their own children and loved ones. It is because of the Holy Spirit that bears witness within our innermost being. We have a soul and spirit that is the "real us". The body is a temporary dwelling but the soul and spirit abides forever in one place or another. When a person receives Christ as savior and turns from sin, he or she receives the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, which witnesses to us of the existence of God. We know without a shadow of a doubt that God is real. When one is completely baptized in the Holy Spirit the reality of God becomes more and more real each time we pray and seek His face.

That is why when modern scientists try to explain away the existence of God and offer an alternative reason for the existence of man, most of us reject it. The spirit within us does not agree. Not just because of what we read in the book of Genesis but because the Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God and that God is real.

Galatians 4

The Holy Spirit is within believers to help them to pray. He actually intercedes and prays through us. We do not always know what to pray and what to say. Sometimes things become confusing and overwhelming. The Spirit will then pray for us and intercede with groanings that cannot be uttered by our own intellect. This is further witness that God is real. This is something supernatural and unexplained by the intellect of mankind.

1 John 3

Hear is something we don't hear too often. We sometimes emphasize the teaching that God forgives sin and neglect to teach the rest of the story. He that keeps His commandments is the ones to whom God will dwell within. We know this by the Spirit that He gives us. The Holy Ghost abides within those who love God and keeps His commandments. We get what we want. If we truly want the Holy Spirit to abide within our innermost being, we will love God and we will want to keep His word. The word will delight us. We will not want to stray from its teaching. We will not seek to accept the comfortable part of the word and reject the part that we do not agree with. We cannot pick apart the word of God and accept some but not all of it.

1 John 4

Again this is why we can believe in God even though the whole world denies him. The Holy Spirit dwelling within us witnesses to us that God is real and Jesus Christ is His Son who died for our sins.

1 John 5

Faith in Jesus Christ overcomes the world. The Spirit bears witness within us who believe that the word is truth and that God is real. It is no longer, "I think God is real" but "I know God is real." We no longer need scientific proof. We know because of the Spirit He has put within us.
